Inside the Pea Pod takes you inside the Vancouver Island Baby Fair and the family that brings you this annual event. You’ll find news and information about the Baby Fair, but we’ll also bring you the personal size of things – work/family balance, the ups and downs of mom entrepreneurship, parenting information, our community involvement, recipes, product reviews, and much more.

Shirley Broback is a proud mom of two little ones and the producer of the Vancouver Island Baby Fair. With a background in event planning, marketing, sales & management, as well as the perinatal field, Shirley combined her passion, experience and skills together to create the Vancouver Island Baby Fair. She earned the distinction of being named the 2009 SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year by Savvymom.ca, and supports other local mom-entrepreneurs through speaking engagements and mentorship.

Mike Lowe is the assistant producer of the Vancouver Island Baby Fair. His background in broadcast media, professional communications, event planning, and management makes him the ideal candidate to assist Shirley. (Plus, he happens to be her wonderful husband & Dad to their two great kids!)

Shirley and Mike are raising their 3-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy in Victoria, British Columbia. The Vancouver Island Baby Fair takes place annually in Victoria and Nanaimo, B.C.
